M&D’s - A Fairytale Destination Wedding
I’ve been sharing a lot lately about destination weddings and just how invaluable having a planner can be to make your special day (or days!) unfold seamlessly.
So, I thought I’d share M&D’s wedding story; they were the perfect example of how magical a destination celebration can be when everything comes together beautifully - and embraces the local destination, whilst incorporating personal touches.
M&D, a wonderful couple living in Hong Kong, chose London as the destination for their dream wedding - a perfect halfway point for their guests travelling from both the United States and Asia.
Their vision was clear from the start: a magical, fairytale celebration, which led them to the iconic Kensington Palace as their venue of choice.
From the outset, it was important for them to include thoughtful personal touches that reflected their story throughout their celebrations.
Their guest book, for example, paid homage to their very first date at a poker game, guests were invited to sign personalised playing cards, a playful and meaningful nod to that special memory. In honour of their heritage, traditional rice wine was also served during dancing, celebrating an important cultural tradition.
The festivities unfolded over three unforgettable days.
Starting with a welcome drinks reception at The Old Bank of England a charming venue in the heart of London, chosen to showcase a different and more traditional side of the city.
On their wedding day, guests arrived at Kensington Palace for a romantic ceremony in the Orangery, followed by a candlelit dinner in the regal State Apartments, before returning to the Orangery for an evening of dancing.
To complete the fairytale, Mimi made a breathtaking entrance in a horse-drawn carriage alongside Damon.
The night before her wedding, she stayed at The Ritz London one of the city’s most iconif and elegant hotels setting the tone for a wedding weekend that was truly timeless.
